Only in winter
Wielki Szyszak is a breathtaking viewpoint with brilliant panorama of Karkonosze & Izera Mountains. However elevation is not vey high, it can be very dangerous place if visibility is low in winter. Due to National Park regualations getting to the peak is formally illegal in summer.
I love that mountain. Summited several times, different marked paths, always beautiful.

nice hike
Hiked this one with my dad the day after Snezka. Hiked from Spindlerova bouda to Violek and back. Krkonose is awesome!

Brilliant day
I first summited with my father, when I was about ten years old. We ascended from the west, via the top of Śnieżne Kotły. (AFAIR we'd taken the chair lift to Szrenica, and there was plenty of snow.) Since then I've traversed the sides of the mountain a few times. On 12 March 2014 I stood by the summit "cairn" again, having ascended from the east. The weather was unbelievable - besides blue skies, hardly any wind! There was little snow and as long as you kept to the path, gaiters were not needed. I had to put on my crampons in a couple of places below and away from Wielki Szyszak though, especially on a stretch of the road below the "Pod Łabskim Szczytem" hut, within the forest zone. (My trailhead was at Hauptmann's House in Jagniątków; the hike ended at Szklarska Poręba Górna train station.)
