red thingsOK, so I'll ask a dumb question. What are the red things on your shoes?

Re: red thingsThat's not a dumb question. The dumb questions come from me to your pics, asking which direction is which!
The red things are paper bands with a timing chip in them. So, when the gun goes off to start the race, your time starts when you cross a wire that is strung across the starting line. For example, I crossed the starting line 1 min and 31 secs after the start of the race. There were 6,000 runners at St. George. And there is another wire you cross at the finish line that reads the chip. That way, you get your actual time. Clear as mud?

Re: red things...People keep on telling me I'm living in the
'technological age,' but I keep shrugging them off and tell them to put away their cell phones.
Congrats to you guys for finishing in a
comfortable position. Nice portrait!

Congrat'sTo both you and your wife. Finishing a marathon is a neat accomplishment and you've done 4 of them this year? Excellent. My son in law did the St. George marathon two years back and he said it was pretty tough.

Re: Congrat'sThanks Dean! Now that I've done the four, I'm ready to hit the hills! But, I am thinking about doing a few half marathons. It's kinda addicting, but not as addicting as peak baggin'. I just hope I can get out there a little more this year.
