Abraham-Spaulding Sugarloaf Traverse
Excellent traverse! Highly recommend over doing out and back.

Double the summits
After doing Sugarloaf, we hit Spaulding. No views really (there is one side trail to views of Sugarloaf but it was not in the sun) and then a hike down before dark.

Windy
Took ninety minutes to get from the summit of Sugarloaf to this summit and although it might be wooded there are views off the paths someone helpfully chopped out on top. With the wind a wooded summit was preferable anyway. Two hours and forty five minutes back to the car on CVR. Ran into a 2016 AT finisher named Goat on the trail with a friend. Due to the wild weather we were the only people crazy enough to be out and about today.

It was only a short side trip...
off the AT and as I was passing by anyway I took the time to visit this unremarkable summit. The photo on this page is nicer the I remembered it to be. So why visit? Well, someone told me it was going to be added to the NE111. At least I didn't have to return for this one.

2nd time
First hiked this on my AT Thru-hike in 1998. I don't remember the blue blaze being so defined back then. Climbed it again this time on a weekend outing with my good friend Steve along with Mt. Abraham. Awesome day!

Spaulding Mountain
Climbed with Sugarloaf via the Appalachian Trail from Caribou Valley Road. A pretty easy hike over from Sugarloaf. Found some decent fews from the immediate summit area, primarly of Abraham to the South and Sugarloaf to the North.

Can't Remember
I know I made it up Spaulding the summer I worked as a caretaker on the AT at Horns Pond. I honestly can't remember the trip, but from my notes it looks like I hiked it in conjunction with Sugarloaf. It was a busy summer since I was trying to summit all the 4k footers in New England.

Appalachian Trail
Hiked up here to help an ex-girlfriend (who was leading a backpacking trip) submit an application. It was complicated.
Great AT hike from Rangely to Flagstaff Lake. Lots of awesome scenery. Well, this mountain itself was sort of wooded at the top.

AT Dayhike
Combo with Sugarloaf from Caribou Valley. Was unimpressed with the actual summit...oh well...

Bushwhack out of Caribou Pond
Skiied in from 1 mile up Caribou Valley road to the pond then up through the old clearcuts around the basin to the AT and onto the summit. Celebrated my dad's last 100 highest peak in the winter on the summit. Unfortunately, The clear cut area is just old enough that it is pretty much impossible to ski off the summit back to caribou pond without leather chaps and a hockey mask.

AT from sugarloaf
Stayed on the AT as far as the lean-to, then bushwhacked to Caribou Pond for the night.
