"After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally, you see things as they really are, which is the most horrible thing in the world."

South SlopesBase camped at Keyser Brown Lake. 11.5 hour round trip from Keyser Brown Lake to summit back to camp. Bushwhacking from First Rock Lake to Throop Lake was a nightmare. Once you get to Sky Pilot Lake it opens up and the scenery is amazing. Avoided most of the steep snowfields and was able to get up to the plateau fairly easy.

From Donaldson Triskele Lakes areaWith a southern approach, the hike to the summit is fairly easy. Only a snowfield half way presented any extra effort. Kick steps up this snowfield and for the most part glacade back down it.
Anyone of limited ability can reach the summit of Sky Pilot Mtn. I would recommend it to everyone. Great views in all directions. Dont forget to check out Sky Pilot Lake located just north of the high pass between the Lake Fork valley and points to the south.

From Wright LakeIf you're headed for the Castle Group, then climbing from Crystal Lake makes sense. If you're just doing a one and done, then go no further than Wright Lake. Traverse south shore then head uphill aiming right between Maryott and Donelson lakes. From there, it's some of the mellowest slopes to a Beartooth summit you'll find.
