With NorCal Women Adventurers. There is still snow in the bowl, most people were going up the edge of the snow in just shoes. I brought microspikes just in case but ended up going up the talus on the side of the snow for the first half, then going up the snow when it got a little wider. There is some more snow coverage past the bowl that obscures good portions of the trail. But if you have a map (and can see the summit, really) you can get there pretty easily. Took us about 3.5 hours to get to the summit, about three hours down. Went through 4L of liquid, warm day! Views were pretty great, you can see Desolation is still pretty socked in. Saw a marmot, ground squirrels, and a hawk dive-bombing an eagle in a tree.

My first Tahoe peak
This was my first Tahoe peak. Tiring but loved it! Got a nasty sunburn, and I still don't think I've learned my lesson two years later. :) We saw a bear near the trailhead as we started.
Climbed this with my dad at some point when I was growing up. It felt like a great adventure at the time. I remember being fascinated by the views into the Desolation Wilderness.

First Time
My first time going up Tallac for my climbing partner's birthday...it was a rough and steep climb for me, but I was successful and it was a rewarding climb. I have been up five times since...one of my favorite climbs in Tahoe.

Long Day
Decided to do a long day, started at the Tallac trailhead and headed to the peak then out to Aloha. From Aloha I headed south to Echo Summit and down a VERY steep trail to Fallen Leaf where some folks were nice enough to give me a ride back to my car...

Early season from Glen Alpine
From Glen Alpine, tough to follow the trail above 7500 feet due to snow cover so just went cross country up the slope to the summit. Gilmore Lake still frozen over. Trip report is HERE
