Did it again with a buddy. Climbed through the clouds to clear, windless skys above 11,000 feet. A total cloud deck below us so the mountains were just sticking through...NICE!

Took my friend Jennifer up for her first mountain summit! The trail could use a little maintenance up high. The view of Silver Cliff and Westcliffe was grand. I can see my house in Silver Cliff from the summit.

Attempted this mtn with my young and beautiful Wife..........we failed miserably! We needed more lungs and legs. Our high point was the lower peak that you can see from the valley @ about 12,600'. Great view!
We hope to bag it this August. The Sangres are beautiful mountains. Do yourself a favor and stop in at the Alpine Lodge for a meal. It's located at the Alvarado Campground (Comanche-Venable trailhead). It's a great restaurant, nestled in the trees @ 9,000 feet and it's got a few cabins as well. It makes a great base camp if you wanna spend a few days bagging some peaks, and want a shower, bed, and a good meal each evening!

Windy and fun. Horn Peak was to be my birthdat present to myself last year but weather intervened. Still I generaly return to mountains that stike my fancy and Horn Peak is no exception. Sopris and Ray dogs along for the ride.

Wonderful weather, and we didn't cross a single patch of snow the whole way. This is a great early season climb. See my route page for more info. on the hike, and go here for a brief trip report.

Horn Peak TrailIn my opinion Horns look is better than its standard route. Very ardous indeed. Horn would be a good one for winter.

Trail breakin' on the NE RidgeA beautiful November day, but some serious trail breaking from 10,700 and up! Kicked my butt, but it was worth it for the views.
