geyser
started hike as described, but soon crossed over barb wire fence and ascended by north slope (burned over, but deadfall manageable among 1-2 meter tall aspen). Started down east ridge from summit, then veered south through a gap in the rocks (not recommended). I could barely see Factory Butte in the smoky view to the east - anything past that was grey. Encountered a few cows.

Windy Day!
Breezy (20 mph) autumn day. The ridge and most of the route were sheltered from the heavy winds. Frost had nipped the summit brush and trees the night before. Clear views for miles in all directions.
