Worth It
Peak doesn't look difficult from a distance but it is a nice alpine scramble. Views are great as everybody says. It's much easier if you go around and approach the summit more from the north rather than go straight up the ridge from Donohue Pass.

Great way to see Yosemite & Ansel Adams Wilderness
Did this as a side trip on a JMT thru hike that included lots of extra peaks. Def seems a bit long due to the false summits, but the views from the top are outstanding.
The west ridgeline to Donohue direct from the pass is almost all class 2, and good fun. But there are false summits along the way, so it seems a bit long. The perspective on Banner and Ritter from the summit is unmatched, in my opinion.
Outstanding views of the ridge from Ritter to Lyell. Very enjoyable.

Excellent Side Trip off the JMT
Thought about doing this peak on our 2004 JMT trek but once reaching the pass we still planned to reach Tuolumne Meadows from our day at Thousand Island Lake (20 Mile day)so we passed. This year we shortened the day to allow us to climb the peak. Sure glad we did. Really great view.

Fun excursion
Hiked and scrambled up the SW ridge from Donohue Pass with my wife. It was her second Sierra Peak.

Ritter overview
This peak was intended as a warmup and overview for the days to come during a 9-day backpack trip in Ansel Adams. I made my way to Donohue Pass from Rush Creek and ascended the SW ridge, hanging with some marmots along the way. I decided to take a more direct route down the S face in some chutes that were interesting and sometimes hairy class3-4.
Route Climbed: SW Ridge from Don. Pass Date Climbed: August 6, 1987
The 3rd peak of the day after climbing up the Lyell glacier to Mt. Lyell, traversing the saddle to Mt. Maclure and then down and over to the pass. Eventually wandered off of Donohue Peak and down Kuna creek back to camp along the T. River.
Route Climbed: North Ridge (ascent) / South Face (descent) Date Climbed: July 1, 1997
This was a pretty enjoyable hike from Thousand Island Lake. Excellent views of Lyell/Maclure, Banner/Ritter, Koip Crest, Lyell Canyon, and elsewhere. Trip Report
