Great Little Hike
5th Annual Father's Day weekend hike with my daughter. After doing Baldy and Telegraph in prior years we gave B-P a try. Short, just 8+ miles R/T, moderate elevation gain, well maintained trail, great views, not crowded until the way down (as we passed the Boy Scout pilgrimage and the bus full of Korean hikers), goldilocks weather on top- not too cold, not too hot- enjoyable morning and back to the car by 10:00 am.
Hiked twice via Dawson Saddle. The views East from the ridge are spectacular!

So much fun in snow
One of the best hiking days of the year for our group of friends. The hike had it all - great weather, enough snow to need an ice-ax, enough ice to need crampons and great views. Very slow going down. Will do again in the future.

From Dawson Saddle via PCT & North Ridge
Stayed on PCT until reaching large snow-covered sections, then roped up for practice and went straight up the north ridge to summit.

Camped on top for the Supermoon!
Stayed the night atop Baden Powell and watched the Supermoon rise above Mount Baldy! Got some gorgeous shots of the Wally Tree at sunset with the moon behind. Wow, what a place.
This was part of a series of climbs during a back pack in snowy conditions over my spring break back in 1970. No tent, just a tarp and a sleeping back!

In the Snow
Nice day. Post holing part of the way. Almost did not make it up the snow, which was virgin at time, wearing only mountain boots. Came up from Vincent Pass.

Twice is Nice
Tried this peak from Vincent Gap last year and was unsuccesful due to high amount of snow. This time we went when it was a little nicer. Great views next time we'll go from Dawson

Via Dawson Saddle
Tagged this and Mount Burnham via the PCT from Dawson Saddle. Honestly, this is one of the most beautiful hikes in the San Gabriels. The summit is unusual and the trail is never harder than moderate difficulty. Highly recommended especially from Dawson, I think its a 10 mile hike and a few thousand feet of gain. I've thrown pics up on my blog in case its helpful to you. http://summitascents.com/2010/10/11/dawson-saddle-to-mt-baden-powell-and-mt-burnham/
