From the point of view of history and geology it is one of the most interesting archaeological sites of the Aosta Valley, with over 60 cist graves, evidence of the period of the last glaciation, and with various stone carvings dating from the Second to the Third Millennium BC to the which thing the geosite said Vollein and in the Municipality of Quart (
"Ad quartum ab Augusta lapidem" ie four Roman miles from
Augusta Prætoria Salassorum, current Aosta City, along the
Gaul Via Consular) encloses into a limited area a number of geological, geomorphological and cultural of great importance and absolute value, as well as valuable as the rock art engravings in cups on sheepbacks or on large boulders with horrifying clusters so bizarre as wild, or in ravines by the look grim and turned mainly to the South to the Central Valley and from the top of which you see scroll in great depth the Dora Baltea. The necropolis extends in the most depressed of the hill and the archaeological excavations have revealed
66 cist graves, that is shaped like a stone drawer protruding from the land, consisting of four slabs and a covering slab placed over the sides of the tombs same. Completing the curiosity and enrich the imagination some isolated rocks, apparently carved by a skilled and unknown hand, scattered on the flat hilltop
(about 900 metres) that seem to reproduce the globe, or at least that of a distant celestial body. Almost a message of adoration towards the entire
Universe and the power of the
Sun, that can awaken their dead from the darkest darkness exposing the remains from the shadow of the pit to revitalizing by cosmic rays. A belief that is always expanded in
Time since the birth of man. Thwarting the Ages.
That it must rediscover the History of Humanity, with these notions astrophysical and even religious, by deleting the passage between Kepler and Copernicus?
And then again from Death to Life
It can resurrect Life in what was only a sad place of Death? Certainly and manifesting itself in all its forms more explosive and evocative returning to enjoy
the movement of people, the colors of
Nature that cover even the most arid and wild place, almost abandoned by God, the smell and odors emanating Life. Then, better looking, you realize that from these extravagant boulders, carved by a wild Cyclops, the view scrolls the valley discovering new Life, bathed in a pale but new Sun over long shadows. Ancient river that never stops flowing, old castle, a new road that leads men towards the Light pointing the way for the Mounts always silhouetted against the Sky to
Resurrection and the "Risorgimento"
Resurrezione e Risorgimento
