Via Old Lookout Trail
Very nice day. Road to trailhead closed roughly 2.7 miles back to vehicles (unless you have motor bike). Expect lots of bugs and the trail is mostly covered with snow until the summit. Just bring some waterproof shoes and you will be fine. Awesome views of Adams, Rainier, Stuart, and Glacier at the summit.

Up through the ski area
A quick getaway hike from Kennewick, I started from the ski area, up the ski runs, and across the ridge to the summit. All of this was largely snow free, although I did find some of the runs still snow covered up high sped travel up a bit. Managed to fall shortly after summiting crossing the rockfield. It was a crummy fall, rock flipped over on me and put me on my face before I had any idea what happened, pretty humbling. No broken bones, just some bone and ego bruising.

cross-country route(s)
From Marion Lake, we traversed the south slope of Pt 6480+, staying in the relatively open areas, opposite the cliffs. (Staying directly under the cliffs should go fine too, though the trees are thicker.) This led us to a scramble over jumbled, half-snowed-over talus on the northeast slope of Mission Peak; we angled for the north end of the cliffs.
For the return trip, we descended FR330 to the last hairpin, then struck out northeasterly, along Redwic's route. We followed the tracks of a skier who knew how to chain together a number of clearings, saving us considerable time - though some of the open slopes we traversed could present an avvy risk in deeper snow.

Mission Successful
Nartreb and I hit this peak with a perfect bluebird day. Snow conditions were a little less than we would have like but the summit's views were amazing.
Road to Old Lookout Trail was 4x4 due to mud holes. Beautiful evening hike with a few snow patches lingering.

Ski
Ski off summit. We spent the whole long spring day skiing all chutes and summits around. Good times

Spring Go
Headed up from the ski resort parking lot. We succeeded in finding a bit of sun somewhere in Washington, but our luck ran out before the summit. We didn't need snowshoes until the ridge. Great glissading on the way down.

Snowshoe Trek
I ascended from the Mission Ridge Ski Area parking lot to (frozen-over) Marion Lake, then snowshoed cross-country WSW to the summit. Great snow approach. Highly recomended.
This was my 90th Washington peak summited that had at least 1000' of prominence, and my 50th Washington peak summited that had at least 2000' of prominence.

Bad conditions...
Came up from Clara Lake trail. Made it a ways past Marion Lake when we got into a whiteout. Opted to turn around rather than get lost in the whiteout. Posted TR on nwhikers, but site is down...
Hiked with my Dad. It was an overcast day. Great views of the Columbia River.

Pleasant easy hike with the chance to hike with Dean made for a good trip (in spite of the digestive pleasures of some dubious pico de gallo).

Fellow SP'er Ericnoel and I did this nice short hike to the summit after finding the right forest service road and the bermed trail. More about that in the route description.
